FIFA plays a fundamental role in society, and therefore adherence to good governance principles is fundamental to FIFA’s broader social mission.

With 211 affiliated associations, FIFA supports them financially and logistically through various programmes. As representatives of FIFA in their countries, they have obligations to respect the statutes, aims and ideals of football's governing body and promote and manage our sport accordingly.


ORGANISATION DEPARTMENTS

President

Since his election at the Extraordinary FIFA Congress on 26 February 2016, Gianni Infantino has focused his presidency on repositioning FIFA as a credible, trustworthy, modern, professional and accountable organisation.

Secretary General

After starting her United Nations career in Rome as a senior logistics officer with the World Food Programme in 1995, Fatma Samoura served as country representative or Deputy Humanitarian coordinator in seven countries.

FIFA Council

The FIFA Council is the main decision making body of the organisation in the intervals of FIFA Congress.

Committees

The FIFA Statutes provide a separation between Strategic oversight and executive, operational and administrative functions.

Judicial bodies

Football Tribunal

According to article 54 of the FIFA Statutes, the Football Tribunal shall pass decisions relating to football-related disputes and regulatory applications.
